One of the cues my coach says is "relax the hands." This @liftinglife photo captures that cue perfectly. When the hands are too tense during the drive of the jerk, it causes a couple issues 1.) It slows the movement and inhibits your ability to get back under the bar 2.) When you tense your hands, you tend to tense the triceps as well. (At least it does for me) This causes the bar to go forward instead of straight overhead So, before initiating the jerk, try relaxing your hands and enjoy how much easier it is to let your body do the work
